Opening Map View
From the dashboard, open the side menu and tap Map View. The page loads instantly and shows your business as a pin at the center, with every booked event in the current month drawn as a marker.
You can also favorite Map View from the side menu so it appears on your dashboard for one-tap access.
Choosing a Date Range
The top of the page has a date range filter with quick presets:
- This week — Monday through Sunday of the current week
- This month — first to last day of the current month (the default)
- Next 30 days — today through 30 days out
- Next 90 days — today through 90 days out
- All upcoming — every booking from today forward
You can also pick exact From and To dates if you need a custom window. The map redraws automatically whenever you change the range.
What the Pins Mean
- Your business pin is always shown. It uses your uploaded logo if you have one; otherwise it shows a monogram of your business name.
- Event pins mark every booking that falls in the selected date range and has a usable address. Click a pin to see the event's title, date, customer, item count, total, and full address.
- Cluster bubbles appear when many events sit close together. The number on the bubble tells you how many events are in that cluster. Tap the cluster to zoom in and split it apart.
The map auto-fits to include your business plus every event pin, so you never have to pan to find the action.
Editing an Event from the Map
Click any event pin and tap Edit. You'll be taken to the full event editor, with all the same options you'd have from the calendar — items, pricing, addresses, contracts, and so on.
When you save or close the editor, you're brought right back to Map View with the same filters and zoom level you had before. If your edit moves the event outside the current date range, the map shows a quick note so you know where it went.
There's also an Open in Calendar link on each popup if you want to view the event in the normal calendar view instead.
Events That Couldn't Be Mapped
If an event has a missing or unrecognized address, the map can't place a pin for it. These events appear in a small drawer in the top-right corner of the map labeled "X events couldn't be mapped." Expand the drawer to see:
- Missing — the event has no street address
- Bad address — the address is on file but couldn't be matched to a real location (usually a typo)
Each item has a Fix address button that takes you straight to the event editor so you can correct it. When you save, the map redraws with the new pin in place.
Helpful Extras
- Locate me drops a temporary marker at your current location, so you can see which jobs are closest to where you're standing right now.
- Print opens a printer-friendly version of the map with a numbered legend of every event in view.
- Live updates — if you (or another user) create or change an event in another browser tab, the map refreshes automatically within a couple of seconds.
- Dark mode — the map's colors follow your overall theme.
Terrain and Surface Layer
Switch the overlay picker to Terrain & surface to see what's actually on the ground at each address. The map color-codes the world by surface type using public mapping data, plus a slope-risk layer so you can spot hills before you load the truck.
You'll see five colors:
- Green — grass, lawns, parks, fields
- Dark gray — asphalt and paved surfaces
- Tan with dots — gravel and crushed-stone areas
- Brown — bare dirt or unpaved ground
- Red hatched — slope risk, where the ground rises or drops sharply
Hover any spot on the map to see a small readout in the top-right corner with the surface, the slope angle in degrees, and where the information came from.
The Show slope risk checkbox in the legend toggles the red slope hatching off if you only want to see surfaces.
Drawing Your Own Zones
Public mapping data is good for streets, parks, and big landmarks, but it usually doesn't know about a customer's private back yard or a tricky driveway. Click 🖊 Draw zone in the legend and you can outline any area on the map:
- Click on the map to add corners of the zone.
- Press Enter or double-click to finish.
- Pick a kind — grass, asphalt, gravel, dirt, slope risk, access warning, or truck access OK.
- Give it a label and any notes your crew should know (gate code, soft ground, narrow driveway, etc.).
- Lock the zone if you don't want anyone to accidentally edit it.
Your zones show up on top of the public map data with a slightly stronger color. Click any zone to edit it or delete it later.
Terrain on Event Pins
When the terrain layer is on, every event popup also gets terrain chips below the address. So before you dispatch a crew you can see at a glance whether the job site is grass or asphalt, whether there's a slope warning, and whether you've left any custom notes for that property. This is great for ballast planning on tents, staking conditions, and figuring out truck access on heavy-equipment deliveries.
Terrain hints only appear for events that fall inside an area you've recently looked at, so it's worth panning over your service area once with the terrain layer on to "prime" the hints for the events you've got coming up.
Who Can See It
Map View is available to admins and managers. Employees don't see Map View — they continue to see their own assigned jobs in the dashboard.
Tips
- Open Map View at the start of the day to plan your driving route between jobs.
- Use the All upcoming preset before a big weekend to see which areas you'll be working in.
- The clustered numbers are a quick way to spot your busiest neighborhoods over time.
